The idea of having a Metropolitan Grand Lodge to serve London Freemasonry in the same way that Provincial Grand Lodges serve Masonry outside London has been around for over 100 years. But it was not until 1st  October 2003 that the idea was realised and became a reality with formation of Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Metropolitan Grand Chapter at the Royal Albert Hall. The Most Worshipful The Grand Master His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent KG GCMG GCVO ADC presided at the formation, since then London Freemasonry has been run from offices opposite Freemasons’ Hall in Great Queen Street.

London Freemasonry is fortunate to have The Right Worshipful Metropolitan Grand Master The Right Rt. Hon. Lord Millett PC. at its head and he is assisted in his duties by his Deputy RW Bro Russell Race DL PJGW.
